Authorities in Wisconsin released jaw-dropping video from a high speed chase that looks like something out of an action movie.
The footage from Fond du Lac County deputies and Wisconsin State Patrol troopers shows a wanted man launching his vehicle over oncoming traffic while trying to escape law enforcement officers.
The pursuit started early Saturday morning, May 9, when state troopers on I-41 northbound pulled over a suspicious car that turned out to be connected to a felony warrant in Kenosha County.
What should have been a routine stop turned chaotic when the suspect decided to make a run for it, forcing officers to call for backup and set off on a dangerous pursuit through multiple Wisconsin communities.
The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Dewayne Stokes of Milwaukee, had already built a rap sheet before this wild scene unfolded.
Court records revealed that Stokes was out on bond for operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent but had skipped court, leading to the warrant that got him stopped in the first place.
When a deputy from Fond du Lac County and another trooper arrived to assist, Stokes hit the gas and fled. Deputies tracked him as he exited I-41 onto Military Road.
For a moment it looked like he was going to surrender when he paused briefly at the top of the off-ramp, but in a split second he bolted again, sending officers back into pursuit.
