Maybe, in the future, historians will mark today, September 4, 2026, as the start of the Second Falkland War.
Javier Milei gave a televised speech today in which he launched a renewed push for the control of the Falkland Islands – or, as they call it, the Malvinas.
Milei described Britain as a country in decline, and vowed that Argentina would ‘prevail’.
He also announced sanctions for companies drilling for oil in the seas around the islands.
It’s not a coincidence that this comes a day after U.S. President Donald J. Trump hinted that he won’t help defend Britain if Argentina moves on the Falklands.

The Telegraph reported:
“Milei also announced that Argentina would build a new military base in Tierra del Fuego as part of the country’s growing strategic alliance with Washington.
