Trump was responding to unemployment concerns in Canada, according to CityNews. The Canadian outlet reported that his post went up at 8:48 a.m. Wednesday and highlighted his claim that the consequences are already appearing in the country’s numbers.
The warning landed amid a wider argument over Ottawa’s handling of immigration and its effect on Canadian capacity. It also arrived on the same day the country released fresh population estimates showing just how abruptly the federal government has been forced to reverse course.
For years, Canada’s political establishment sold record immigration as an unquestionable good. Anyone who asked whether the country had enough homes, doctors, classrooms or jobs was treated as though the question itself were illegitimate.
Now the government is quietly applying the brakes.
