‘Relentless’ Canadian Doctors Try to Railroad Cancer Patient Into ‘Assisted Suicide’
by Frank Bergman
A Canadian lawmaker has revealed that hospital staff relentlessly pressured her terminally ill brother to accept government-assisted suicide despite his determination to keep living.
Conservative MP Tamara Jansen recounted her brother Johan’s ordeal during a speech before Canada’s House of Commons.
Johan was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in 2023 and understood that he was dying.
Nevertheless, he wanted to spend every remaining moment of his life with his family.
“He knew he was dying, but he wanted to live!” Jansen told her fellow lawmakers.
“However, the medical staff at the Abbotsford hospital seemed to want to end his life.
“While lying on a bed in the hallway on the oncology ward, he was asked not once, not twice, not three, four, or five times but six separate times if he wanted MAID.
“They were relentless,” she asserted.
“MAiD” is the Canadian government’s term for “medical assistance in dying,” its rapidly expanding taxpayer-funded euthanasia program.
Jansen said hospital staff continued pressing Johan to accept death by warning that they might not be able to control his pain.
She said the warnings left her brother terrified, but he still refused to surrender.
Hospital Staff ‘Pressed Him’ to Die
Jansen told lawmakers that hospital staff “pressed him” to accept euthanasia, “saying that they did not think they would be able to control his pain, scaring him out of his wits, but he still had a will to live.”
Johan’s refusal gave him another eight to ten months with his loved ones.
During that time, he was able to repair relationships, form friendships at his hospice, and say goodbye to his family.
“I am very proud of my little brother for standing up for his life, for having the courage and the commitment to make a statement that his life was still worth living, even if it was for only another eight or ten months,” Jansen said.
