Feminists Keep Colliding with Reality

by Christopher Chantrill

Reality is that “women expect to be protected.” And when they are not protected, they “complain.”

What are we to think? First the Clancy mob told us on Instagram that Lindsay Clancy was not to blame for the, er, termination of her three children. Then the mobbettes got together to back Jane Doe, the helpless rape victim of the frat thugs of the Cornell 7.

It is easy to ask: What is wrong with women?

Let’s stop right there. We are racist-sexist-homophobes, and we do not believe that politics and online mobs and peaceful protests and Instagram posts can do a darn thing to save the world. Our mission, if we accept it, is to understand the world.

Because I am so wise, I already know. And I say that women are not to blame. They are helpless victims of two centuries of liberal ideology, in particular feminist ideology — and to quote American philosopher Lina Lamont, they cain’t stand it.

First of all, understand that “women expect to be protected.” Notice the word “expect.” I mean that women live day to day assuming that they are protected. This runs deep within the female instincts, in the unconscious. They don’t think to themselves about whether they are protected; they just complain when they discover they are not protected. And in today’s feminist world, even with tens of thousands of DEI administrators hacking through the oppressor undergrowth in search of “harm” and “unwelcome speech,” women just do not feel protected. This is not because of the incompetence of the DEI administrators, but simply because women do not feel protected in today’s public square of colleges and business and politics.

The public square was created by men for men. It replaced the warrior culture and its clash of arms and challenges and insults and duels with a fight for market share. Women do not feel safe in the public square of challenge and insult; it’s in the jeans.

Here’s another way to understand that. Men have a Culture of Insult; women have a Culture of Complaint. Now, a century ago, sociologist Georg Simmel wrote that women would transform the public square to suit a more feminine sensibility. After a decade of thinking about it, I have decided that when you convert the public square from a male Culture of Insult to a female Culture of Complaint, you no longer have a public square. What you have is women “expect to be protected” and are outraged when they find that complaints don’t save them from male aggression.
