Trump strikes Russian diesel deal with Putin, sparking anger in Kiev
President Donald Trump said on Friday that Russia had agreed to supply diesel fuel to US and global markets to help bring down prices, drawing sharp criticism from Ukraine.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to the shipments during a “highly successful” discussion.
Trump, whose Republican Party faces growing voter anger over fuel prices ahead of next month’s midterm elections, said Russia would “immediately” supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel fuel, followed by another 500,000 tons in November and 1 million tons shortly thereafter.
