Nearly All Americans Living Paycheck-to-Paycheck

The economy isn’t getting better and the unemployment numbers we keep seeing are far from accurate. According to CNN Money, 76 percent of Americans are living paycheck-to-paycheck. Roughly three-quarters of Americans are living paycheck-to-paycheck, with little to no emergency savings, according to a survey released by Bankrate.com Monday. Fewer than one in four Americans have enough money in their savings account to cover at least six months of expenses, enough to help cushion the blow of a job loss, medical emergency or some other unexpected event, according to the survey of 1,000 adults. Meanwhile, 50% of those surveyed have… View Article

If carbon dioxide is so bad for the planet, why do greenhouse growers buy CO2 generators to double plant growth?

(NaturalNews) For only “pennies a day,” any greenhouse owner can produce CO2 to  help increase plant yields in their greenhouses. That’s the message on CO2  generators sold by greenhouse supply companies across the United States and  Canada. “1,500 ppm [of carbon dioxide] can be achieved… these generators  automatically provide the carbon dioxide needed to meet maximum growing  potential for only pennies a day,” the ad says. View it yourself in  this picture taken from a greenhouse supply magazine: http://www.naturalnews.com/images/CO2-Generator-Section.jpg CO2  generators “improve plant quality” and “increase production.” They’re made in  the USA… View Article

U.S. dairy industry petitions FDA to approve aspartame as hidden, unlabeled additive in milk, yogurt, eggnog and cream

(NaturalNews) You probably already know that the FDA has declared war on raw  milk and even helped fund and coordinate armed  government raids against raw milk farmers and distributors. Yes, it’s  insane. This brand of tyranny is unique to the USA and isn’t even conducted in  China, North Kora or Cuba. Only in the USA are raw milk farmers treated like  terrorists. But now the situation is getting even more insane than you  could have imagined: the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and the  National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) have filed  a petition with the FDA asking the FDA… View Article

Now EPA accused of selectively targeting conservative groups

As bad as it was that the Internal Revenue Service targeted conservative and Tea Party groups filing for tax-exempt status, it appears now that the IRS wasn’t the only federal agency doing so. According to June 4 Fox News report, the Environmental Protection Agency – itself used by successive administrations to harass and punish Americans – was also targeting conservative groups: The allegations concern the [EPA], which is being accused of trying to charge conservative groups fees while largely exempting liberal groups. The fees applied to Freedom of Information Act requests – allegedly, the EPA waived them for liberal groups far more often than it did for… View Article

Pelosi Booed at Liberal Conference for Saying Snowden Broke the Law

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was booed by liberal activists  Saturday for defending President Obama on the NSA’s surveillance programs and  saying leaker Edward Snowden broke the law. This occurred during a Q&A session at the far-left Netroots Nation  conference in San Jose. As Pelosi was saying the country needs a “balance” between security and  privacy, a man shouted, “It’s not a balance. It’s not constitutional!…No  secret laws!” Officials then escorted the man from the room as others showed support for  him by shouting, “Leave him alone!” and “That’s what a police state… View Article

Hastings Sent Colleagues Email Hours Before Crash

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — The crash that killed journalist Michael Hastings was  ruled an accident by police, but conspiracy theories continued to circulate on  Friday. Hastings, 33, was killed in a fiery solo-vehicle crash in Hancock Park early  Tuesday morning. He was best known for a 2010 Rolling Stone article that led to the  resignation of Gen. Stanley McChrystal, who was the former U.S. and NATO  commander in Afghanistan. Staff Sgt. Joseph Biggs told KTLA that he received an email from Hastings on  Monday. Biggs had known Hastings since 2008, when the journalist was embedded in his  unit in Afghanistan…. View Article

NSA controversy boosts interest in ‘private’ Internet search engines

Internet users are taking a fresh look at “privacy” search engines that do not store data or track online activity, in light of the flap over US government surveillance. While Google’s market share has not seen a noticeable dent, privacy search engines like US-based DuckDuckGo and European-based Ixquick have seen jumps in traffic from users seeking to limit their online tracks. “I think people are seeking out privacy alternatives,” said Gabriel Weinberg, founder of DuckDuckGo, an engine created in 2007, which does not store IP addresses or create profiles of users. The stored data has become a concern following… View Article

Russia defiant as U.S. raises pressure over Snowden

Reuters) – Russia defied White House pressure on Monday to expel former U.S. spy agency contractor Edward Snowden to the United States before he flees Moscow on the next stop of his globe-crossing escape from U.S. prosecution. Snowden, whose exposure of secret U.S. government surveillance raised questions about intrusions into private lives, was allowed to leave Hong Kong on Sunday after Washington asked the Chinese territory to arrest him on espionage charges. The 30-year-old flew to Moscow as a transit stop before heading elsewhere, several sources said. But reports he would fly to Cuba were put in doubt when… View Article

Mayor of Illinois’ Third-Largest City Quits Bloomberg Anti-Gun Group

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s anti-Second Amendment group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, has lost another member, this time the mayor of Rockford, Illinois–the state’s third largest city. At a townhall-styled appearance on June 22 in nearby Loves Park, Illinois, Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey announced that he has, indeed, quit Mayor Bloomberg’s gun group because Bloomberg’s group was not fulfilling what Morrissey felt was the group’s stated intentions. Morrissey has for some time been saying he intended to quit the anti-gun group and some citizens wondered if this was just electioneering, but at this most recent townhall event, Mayor Morrissey has… View Article

Former Facebook Security Chief Works for NSA

Facebook’s former security chief Max Kelly now works for the National Security Agency (NSA), reports the New York Times. Kelly, whom the Center for Responsive Politics lists as having donated $1,150 to the Obama campaign in 2008, also previously worked at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He left Facebook for the NSA in 2010, one year after the social media giant reportedly joined the NSA’s top-secret PRISM program. Kelly’s position at the NSA is presently unknown. The revelation is the latest example of the growing fusion between so-called Big Data Silicon Valley tech firms and government. Indeed, given the… View Article
