Canada’s Gun Control Laws Could Become Big Issue For 2019 Election
Both the Liberals and Conservatives are talking a lot about guns.
Eighteen months ahead of the vote, both the governing party and the official Opposition are laying the groundwork for making guns a wedge issue, to carve away a share of each other’s softer support. The Liberals are aiming at cities and suburbs, while the Conservatives focus on rural and remote ridings.
Justin Trudeau fired the first shot with Bill C-71, his Liberal government’s recently tabled effort to tighten Canada’s firearms law, including enhanced background checks for obtaining a firearms licence and mandatory record-keeping for vendors.
The Canadian Government Wants Stricter Gun Control
The government wants enhanced background checks to weed out potentially problematic gun owners.
In a public safety memo, obtained by the CP, the government said it wants enhanced background checks for people who want to be allowed to own handguns and restricted firearms. The memo also said the government may have more measures for re-assessing existing firearms owners in case they want to revoke a license.

The Gunfighters are anxious to get out and do some shootin’, hollarin’ and huntin’ down those mean varmints with some new, rewritten and classic skits that have made Gunfighters for Hire the best western reenactor group around, and the only local group that uses real period clothing, real period firearms with lots of kaboom and smoke. The Pioneertown shows are free, always fun and will continue on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays, October through May.

Behold this leading-bleeding scream piece from BMJ, formerly the British Medical Journal and formerly a respected source of scientific information for your doctor.
The journal has a history of free-wheeling condemnation of American gun owners, going so far as to advocate attacking their very culture. Throwing fuel on their own fire, BMJ editors evidently have now resorted to an old if not exactly honorable practice of hack journalism—printing the shocking and the scandalous, even if the truth gets roughed up in the process.
Is there some truth to this article? Probably. Is truth its main mission? Not if this gleeful “report” in the Washington Post is any indication.
