Evansville Trump rally got Ford Center’s largest-ever crowd
Thursday night’s Trump rally drew the Ford Center’s largest crowd ever, according to manager VenuWorks. The turnout: 11,500 people, with another 2,000 unable to get in.
Meanwhile, the Evansville Police Department issued its official estimate of the crowd protesting President Trump outside the arena – 500 to 600 people at its peak.
Scott Schoenike, executive director of Ford Center manager VenuWorks, said the absence of chairs and the use of a relatively small stage were the keys to squeezing in 11,500 people. The $120 million, 290,000-square foot facility has 9,200 fixed seats and another 400 if suites are counted, Schoenike said.
President Donald Trump drew another massive overflow crowd at his rally in Johnson City, Tennessee on Monday.
Trump’s new campaign manager Brad Parscale estimated that there were 20,000 people at the rally — 7,000 inside the arena, 2,000 in the overflow room, and thousands outside.
“Big numbers!” he exclaimed on Twitter.
Rep. Phil Roe of Tennessee said 92,000 had requested tickets to the event. Some supporters arrived Sunday night to stake their position in the line.

America’s ten most dangerous cities—as measured by federal crime statistics—have one highly notable feature in common: All are led politically by Democratic mayors. Most, in fact, have been controlled by Democrats for a very long time. For example, Detroit, which in 2015 ranked as the nation’s most dangerous city, has not had a Republican mayor since 1961. The second most dangerous city in 2015 was Oakland, California, a Democrat stronghold since 1977. Third was Memphis, in Democratic hands since 1991. Fourth was St. Louis, which has been led exclusively by Democratic mayors since 1949. Fifth was Cleveland, where no Republican has been mayor since 1989. Sixth was Baltimore, Democrat-led since 1967. Seventh was Milwaukee, which has elected only Democratic mayors since 1908. Eighth was Birmingham, which has been Democrat-run since 1975. Ninth was Newark, a Democrat bastion since 1933. And tenth was Kansas City, Missouri, which has not seen a Republican mayor in a quarter-century.
