Women On the Board – Poverty Initiative
California becomes first state to require women to be on corporate board
The measure requires at least one female director on each board of California-based corporations by the end of next year. Companies would need up to three female directors by the end of 2021, depending on the number of board seats.
The Democratic governor referenced the objections and legal concerns that the law has raised.
“I don’t minimize the potential flaws that indeed may prove fatal to its ultimate implementation,” Brown wrote in a signing statement. “Nevertheless, recent events in Washington, D.C. – and beyond – make it crystal clear that many are not getting the message.”

Discrimination and poverty linked, says B.C. NDP report into poverty reduction
Poverty and discrimination are closely linked, according to a report released Thursday that compiled the results of provincewide public consultations.
The What We Heard About Poverty in B.C. report is the result of public input on B.C.’s first official poverty reduction strategy.
Much of the report’s information came from feedback the government received from B.C. residents during community meetings held across the province from Nov. 2017 to March 2018.

Gun Control: A Tyrant’s Tool in World History
Gun control is a tool that individual tyrants and various colonial rulers the world over have used to place—and keep—entire populations in a defenseless and subjective posture.
Three examples that clearly illustrate the truth of this are Cambodia, China, and Nazi Germany.
Cambodia became a protectorate of France in 1893. And according to the Texas Review of Law and Politics (TRLP), the French government first introduced gun control into country in 1920, when they “restricted” the carrying of firearms. In 1938 “a rigorous system of gun licensing” was also put in place. After this, the gradual but certain chipping away at gun rights continued until—by 1953—”gun possession for self-defense, target-shooting, or collecting was banned.”
