82-Year-Old Oregon Man Defends Home, Shoots Intruder 82-year-old Salem, Oregon resident John Rose shot an intruder who broke into his home during the early morning hours of October 8. According to Portland’s KATU, the break-in occurred around 6:15 a.m. when Rose and his 83-year-old wife, Mamie, were in the house. Rose shot and wounded the intruder, whom Police Sgt.
