Dems Introduce Bill Forcing Dealers To ‘Retrofit’ Firearms With Smart Gun Technology On June 2, Senator Sen. Edward Markey (D-MA) and Representative Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) (D-NY-12th Dist.) introduced legislation to require the retrofitting of handguns with smart gun technology. Called the Handgun Trigger Safety Act, the bill would require smart gun technology to be installed on all new handguns and would require gun dealers to begin retrofitting all used guns with smart gun technology within the next “10 years.” According to The Hill, Senator Sen.
