Budget cuts batter bilingualism in public service Canada’s language watchdog said Tuesday that government spending cuts mean federal institutions are failing to deliver services in both official languages. “What I’m most worried about is public service entities that have direct contact with the public,” said Official Languages Commissioner Graham Fraser. “It seems saying ‘Hello-Bonjour’ is not part of the public service.” Fraser said the right to receive all federal services in English and French is under threat.
