James Comey Avoids Testifying on Dem Doc Reportedly Showing AG Lynch Protecting Hillary

by Aaron Klein During Wednesday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on FBI oversight, FBI Director James B. Comey refused to publicly address significant questions about the reported existence of a document written by a Democratic operative that allegedly indicated Attorney General Loretta Lynch would have protected Hillary Clinton in the email probe. According to a report last month in the New York Times, the FBI had information that the alleged Lynch document had been hacked by Russian intelligence, leading Comey to fear that Moscow could leak the document to call into question the independence of the U.S. government’s Clinton email...

Danish skydiver survives dramatic landing after getting tangled under aircraft

A parachute jump near Holstebro in West Jutland almost ended in disaster when the skydiver became caught underneath the aircraft. The skydive, which took place at Lindtorp airfield, had dramatic consequences when the 45-year-old skydiver’s foot became caught in a cable, leaving him dangling under the aircraft at a height of 2,500 metres. “As soon as his instructor, who jumped before him, was able to get radio contact with the pilot and people on the ground, a rescue operation was started,” duty officer Jens Claumarch of Mid and West Jutland Police told news agency Ritzau. “At that point, the...

Samantha Bee’s Husband Opposed to More Integration in Local Public School

by Dr. Susan Berry Actor Jason Jones – the husband of President Donald Trump “resistor” Samantha Bee – is opposed to a move that would introduce further integration into the couple’s children’s school, but says his opposition should not be interpreted as “racist.” In June of last year, education media Chalkbeat reported on parents’ protests against rezoning plans for New York City’s wealthy Upper West Side. The story went virtually unnoticed, but after a weekend of Bee promoting her alternative White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD) event, Jones’s comments went viral as critics accused the liberal Bee of hypocrisy. If you...

Christy Clark’s proposed tax on thermal coal would hurt Alberta, U.S.

by Brent Jang BC Liberal Leader Christy Clark wants to slap a hefty $70-a-tonne carbon levy on exports of thermal coal from British Columbian ports, a move that would devastate producers in both the United States and Alberta while sparking a rift over interprovincial trade. “I think in the fight against climate change, we all have a responsibility,” Ms. Clark said Tuesday during campaigning for the May 9 provincial election. She is linking her coal-levy proposal to the Trump administration’s decision last week to collect countervailing duties on Canadian softwood lumber exports south of the border. British Columbia is...

Joanne Lee-Young  More from Joanne Lee-Young  Sam CooperMore from Sam Cooper B.C. Liberal party Leader Christy Clark has defended a little-known provincial tax rebate program that was expanded in 2014 to attract international banks and investment firms to Vancouver and is possibly linked to greater amounts of overseas cash coming into the local real estate market. “We want to re-establish British Columbia as a location for head offices around the world, and I think reaching out to Asia and getting those head offices here is a good way to do that,” said Clark on Wednesday, downplaying a New York...

U.S. bed frame and cedar companies plead for exemptions to softwood duties

By Ross Marowits Several American companies that rely on Canadian softwood say thousands of American jobs are at risk unless the U.S. Department of Commerce exempts them from hefty duties imposed on imported softwood lumber. The U.S. owners of three bed-frame makers and a company that transforms yellow cedar into high-end products have appealed to Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross to be exempted from 20 per cent average countervailing duties and impending anti-dumping charges on Canadian imports. Without a dispensation, the companies said they would be forced to substantially raise prices, risking lower sales and job losses. “Disruptions, even if temporary, will eliminate...
