What The BBC Doesn’t Want You To Know About Polar Ice

What The BBC Doesn’t Want You To Know About Polar Ice The BBC’s Science Editor David Shukman recently got back from an expedition to the high Arctic. Amazingly, despite having gone all that way, he seems completely to have missed the big story: that contrary to the doomsday predictions we’ve been hearing from all the experts over the last few years the ice up there seems to be getting thicker and thicker. Here, courtesy of Paul Homewood at Notalotofpeopleknowthat is the evidence. Multi-year ice in the Arctic Ocean is now at its highest levels since the winter of 2007. But… View Article

Senate votes against fast-tracking TPP

Senate votes against fast-tracking TPP Lawmakers in the United States Senate have thrown a wrench in a plan that would have given President Barack Obama “fast track” authority to advance a 12-nation trade deal between the US and Pacific Ring partners. In a 52-45 vote on Tuesday afternoon, the Senate opposed moving forward for now on the Trans-Pacific Partnership. A procedural vote required at least 60 “ayes” in order to let the Senate host discussions on whether or not to give the president so-called “fast track” authority on the matter. Failure to reach that threshold puts the future of the… View Article

New UK Law Could Criminalize ‘Politically Incorrect’ Opinions

New UK Law Could Criminalize ‘Politically Incorrect’ Opinions BBC: Criticism of feminism, homosexuality may be characterized as extremist A chilling comment by British Prime Minister David Cameron suggests that even people who obey the law won’t be “left alone” by the state if they engage in anything the government deems to be “hate speech,” including “bigotry” and potentially criticism of homosexuality and feminism. Preparing to introduce a new counter-terrorism bill later this month, Cameron laid the groundwork for the measures by remarking that the state not interfering with people’s lives if they “obey the law” was a “failed approach.” “For… View Article
