Wanted in China: More Male Teachers, to Make Boys Men

By JAVIER C. HERNÁNDEZ The history class began with a lesson on being manly. Lin Wei, 27, one of a handful of male sixth-grade teachers at a primary school here, has made a habit of telling stories about warlords who threw witches into rivers and soldiers who outsmarted Japanese troops. “Men have special duties,” he said. “They have to be brave, protect women and take responsibility for wrongdoing.” Worried that a shortage of male teachers has produced a generation of timid, self-centered and effeminate boys, Chinese educators are working to reinforce traditional gender roles and values in the classroom....

Obama and Other Gun Control Proponents Own Stock in Gun Companies

by AWR Hawkins A February 5th Reuters report shows that staunch gun control proponents President Obama and Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) both own stock in gun companies. Obama owns his stock through an Illinois pension plan which, in turn, “has about $5 million invested directly in several gun and ammo makers.” Durbin owns his stock through the S Fund, a “federal retirement benefit” that owns stock in gun manufacturers. So both men own their stock indirectly, but they own it nonetheless. According to Reuters, Obama “has up to $100,000” invested into the Illinois pension plan “from his days in the… View Article

Syria: NATO’s Last Desperate Options in Lost Proxy War

By Tony Cartalucci As Syrian forces and their allies complete the encirclement of Syria’s largest city, Aleppo, the United States and its regional allies have signaled a sudden increased interest in ground operations in Syria, including US airpower backing Turkish-Saudi ground forces. While it is obvious the US and its allies are responding directly to the collapse of their proxy forces across the country, their most recent threats to further escalate the conflict in Syria are tenuously predicated on “fighting ISIS.” The Guardian in its article, “Saudi Arabia offers to send ground troops to Syria to fight Isis,” would...

“The Russians Are Coming”…NYT Proliferates the Big Lie About Russia Threatening America

By Stephen Lendman NYT editors mock credible journalism, proliferating the Big Lie about nonexistent “Russian aggression,” posing the greatest threat to US security. “It is undeniable that Russia has become openly aggressive under President Vladimir Putin, who has violated sovereign borders by annexing Crimea and stoking civil war in Ukraine,” they ranted.  “A cease-fire in Ukraine was declared last year, but Russian forces still maintain a presence in eastern Ukraine, raising questions about whether Russia might try to extend its reach to the Baltic States.” Fact: No responsible editors would touch this rubbish. They’d forthrightly denounce it. Fact: It...

Violence, repression pushing Europe toward ‘civil war

The unprecedented influx of Muslim migrants into Europe is fueling civil unrest as well as government repression directed against the native population, say experts who warn similar crackdowns on criticism of Islam could be coming to America. Manning: The lessons I learned the hard way can help unite Alberta’s right

Preston Manning More from Preston Manning There is considerable discussion in Alberta these days about the need to create a united conservative alternative to the NDP prior to the next provincial election. While agreeing with this objective, my concern is that such an undertaking needs to be very carefully launched, co-ordinated, and managed if it is to be successful. My own experience in this regard is primarily drawn from my involvement in reorganizing Canadian conservatism at the federal level. This was accomplished through the creation of the Reform Party, the United Alternative initiative, and the Canadian Alliance, all leading...
