Lawmaker shreds Obama’s ‘imperial presidency’

Lawmaker shreds Obama’s ‘imperial presidency’ It was as if everyone finally noticed the emperor had no clothes. It began July 3, the day after the administration decided to delay enforcing  the Obamacare employer mandate for a year, when Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, pointed  out the move was strictly illegal. “He has no constitutional authority to simply waive the law … only Congress  can do so,” King  said. A few days passed quietly. Then suddenly, many seemed to notice the  significance of what King had said. On July 8, Michael McConnell, a former judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals ...

Court tosses injunction on NDAA indefinite detention

Court tosses injunction on NDAA indefinite detention The Obama administration regained the authority to indefinitely detain US citizens when a federal appeals court on Wednesday lifted a lower court order which had blocked the indefinite detention provision of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The 3-0 decision by the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals in New York was a disappointment to journalists and activists who had filed the lawsuit arguing the NDAA unconstitutionally gives the president the authority to detain anyone suspected of supporting al-Qaeda or the Taliban. They argued that journalists who simply speak with terrorists… View Article

Obama and Racial Politics – BC Gun Amnesty

The White House is “race-baiting” the Trayvon Martin case as part of a Democratic Party plan,” according to the author of a new book that analyzes how Barack Obama defeated Mitt Romney despite being mired in economic crisis and scandal. Jerome R. Corsi, author of “What Went Wrong: The Inside Story of the GOP Debacle of 2012 … and How It Can Be Avoided Next Time,” said that the Democratic operatives who ran Obama’s 2012 presidential case are “whipping up the Democratic base into a frenzy over race.” http://bit.ly/12EYt51 A British Columbia gun amnesty appeared to be the perfect solution… View Article

City Subcontractor Demolished Wrong House

City Subcontractor Demolished Wrong House Imagine driving up to your home – or vacation home – and realizing it’s not there. It happened in the Lake Worth section of Fort Worth last Friday when a city subcontracted demolition crew took down the wrong house in the 9700 block of Watercress Drive. The crews apparently demolished the house next door to what was the original targeted property. “Typical city,” said neighbor Stephen Neumann, laughing. Neumann ruefully observes this kind of mistake has happened along the lake before and that he keeps his own property spritzed up to avoid any confusion....

Millions of Americans Abroad Reconsider U.S. Citizenship

Due to Increased Regulations, Millions of Americans Abroad Forced to Reconsider U.S. Citizenship The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, or Fatca, is forcing millions of Americans living abroad to reconsider their U.S. citizenship, a lawyer, Colleen Graffy, writes in the Wall Street Journal. “The legislation is Fatca, the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act. To appreciate its breathtaking scope along with America’s unique “citizen-based” tax practices, imagine this: You were born in California, moved to New York for education or work, fell in love, married and had children. Even though you have faithfully paid taxes in New York and haven’t...

Denver to start charging groups who do yoga or fitness in public parks

Denver to start charging groups who do yoga or fitness in public parks Fitness groups that hold classes at public parks, green spaces, and other multi-use public areas in Colorado’s capital city of Denver could soon have to pay user fees to the city in order to continue using them, according to new proposals. Paid exercise programs like CrossFit and yoga that involve large groups of people are taking over public spaces intended for general use, say city officials, and should thus have to gain proper use permits in order to hold their classes in public. Following the lead of… View Article

School decides future of radio-chipping for students

School decides future of radio-chipping for students A San Antonio, Texas, school district that expelled from a magnet school a sophomore girl who had religious objections to being radio-chipped for tracking and identification purposes now has decided to drop the program. The Rutherford Institute, which has defended 15-year-old Andrea Hernandez, a Christian, said the decision “is proof that change is possible if Americans care enough to take a stand and make their discontent heard,” said Constitutional attorney John W. Whitehead, president of Rutherford, said that as Hernandez demonstrated, “the best way to ensure that your government officials hear you is… View Article

Ontario wants your Poo – Paul Weston and Immigration

Ontario wants your Poo – Paul Weston and Immigration Elephant poop is one of the smelly secrets behind a planned project for power generation in Ontario. Thika the elephant (at least while she’s still in the country), along with the rhinos and other Toronto Zoo animals, might soon have a new job helping Ontario residents switch on the lights. But Thika won’t find the work of creating electricity too hard. She only has to eat and defecate to do her part. ZooShare Biogas Co-operative issued a statement saying the Ontario Power Authority had offered the company a contract to build… View Article

He’s been charged with arranging for sexual offences against a child, making child porn and distributing it to others.
