Glazov: Why the Left Cried When Fidel Died

What exactly is going on here? by  Jamie Glazov The death of Fidel Castro has driven a stake into the heart of the Left, causing progressives worldwide to weep and moan at the loss of their secular deity. While North Korea and Raúl Castro have enforced days of mandatory mourning, leftists in the free world are beating their breasts and wailing with a voluntary and committed passion. The examples are endless: Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gushed about how he learned of Castro’s death with “deep sorrow” and went on to pay tribute to a “legendary revolutionary.” Rep. Barbara...

Supreme Court throws out Apple’s $399M win in Samsung patent fight

In a unanimous decision Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court threw out a lower court’s $399 million judgment against Samsung for violating patents involving Apple’s iPhone. The decision overturns a victory that Apple had won in the Washington, D.C. based U.S. Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. The case will now go back to that court for any further proceedings, including determining what, if any, lower penalties Samsung may have to pay Apple. Tech giants such as Google, Facebook and Hewlett Packard Enterprise had urged the Supreme Court to take up Samsung’s appeal of its patent loss to Apple, warning that the… View Article

GOP Readies Cuts to Federal Workforce Under Trump

Reductions part of long-sought civil service overhaul For years, Republicans in Congress have been eyeing an overhaul of the federal workforce — by reducing the number of workers and curtailing benefits and pay while making it easier to fire bad employees. Now, with a president-elect who has promised to do much the same, 2017 could be the best time in recent memory to make sweeping changes affecting those who work for the bureaucracy. One major plan is being readied by Rep. Jason Chaffetz, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. The Utah Republican calls it “high on our...

Disgruntled Democrats Want A Constitutional Convention To Leave The Union Claim They Are Three States Away

On Tuesday, disgruntled Democrats held a forum to discuss the possibility of replacing the Electoral College. Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) conceded that Democrats could not get rid of the Electoral College due to the way the United States Constitution is written. “I don’t think we can sustain our American democracy by having the majority ruled by the minority. And so the question is how to fix this since the Constitution is written in such a way that it’s almost impossible to amend,” Lofgren said. Lofgren went on to say she is open to a Constitutional Convention, “We are three...

Time Warner CEO: Democrats, not Trump, Threatened First Amendment

by Joel B. Pollak Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes said Tuesday that the real threat to the First Amendment in the 2016 election had come from Democrats, not from Donald Trump — and that the media had largely missed the threat because of their own partisan bias. Speaking to the Business Insider IGNITION conference in New York City, Bewkes pointed out that the Democratic Party “had a campaign plank to change the First Amendment, and they were doing it in the guise of campaign finance reform.” Indeed, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton ran on an explicit pledge to change the First… View Article

Donald Trump’s Environment Chief Could be his Best Pick Yet

by James Delingpole Donald Trump’s next head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) could be his most inspired and devastatingly effective pick yet. The name of this dark horse candidate is Don van der Vaart and if reports that he is being considered are true, then he may go down in history as the first EPA administrator who actually has a clue what he is doing. No, really. Since Richard Nixon founded the EPA in 1970 – presumably as a cynical bid to greenwash his tarnished image at the height of the last eco-craze – the organisation has been run...

Man Strings Shotgun like Guitar, Plays Music, Shoots Target

by AWR Hawkins A video posted to LiveLeak shows a man sitting beside a campfire, playing a shotgun–yes, playing a shotgun–and shooting the gun at a target for emphasis halfway through his song. The video, aptly titled “Guy Plays Shotgun Like Guitar,” shows the guy holding a single shot, break-action shotgun with strings attached to the right side of the gun. He plays the strings using a slide, which allows him to note the shotgun instrument in the absence of a fret board. As he plays, onlookers are heard clapping to the beat: It looks like he mounted a shoulder...
