Is Andrew Sheer Conservative – Socialist Teachers

Can Andrew Scheer lead conservatives to success?

Maxime Bernier was cruising to victory in the 2017 Tory leadership contest. Then Andrew Scheer aligned with dairy and poultry farmers, which – along with a quiet nod to social conservatives – created a narrow path to victory. Mr. Bernier, who had called for an end to agricultural cartels while advocating for enhanced personal responsibility and greater freedoms, led on the first 12 of 13 ballots.

Mr. Scheer shrewdly cozied up with the agricultural lobby to win. But in the aftermath, he needed to find some common ground with Mr. Bernier, who had the majority of the party with him minus some special interests. Had Mr. Bernier won, the traditional conservative universe would have instinctively embraced his proposal to equitably dismantle state-sponsored price fixing in the agricultural sector.

Kamloops parent says high school assignment used to push political views onto students

Matt DeFouw says his son knows better than to text in class. But when a picture of a social studies worksheet popped up on his screen, the Kamloops father had to reply.

“Instantly, I was like, ‘Wow, you have to bring that home,’” DeFouw said.

The purpose of the assignment was supposed to teach Grade 10 students at Valleyview Secondary School about the different views in partisan politics. Students were given a list of questions and were asked to answer either political left or right.

“Question No. 3 was, ‘Which person is racist?’” DeFouw said. “The… correct answer was ‘right-wing people.’”

Why Nevada offers just about every type of gambling possible — except a lottery

Watching Nevadans form long lines across the California border last week, hoping to strike it rich gambling, would seem akin to Idahoans emigrating for potatoes or Wisconsinites taking a road trip for cheese. Gambling is, more than anything else, supposed to be Nevada’s franchise.

But California offers something Nevada doesn’t: lottery tickets.

Record lottery ticket sales of $1.5 billion last week for a jackpot of $640 million once again raises the question of why Nevada doesn’t participate in a lottery.

Death by selfie

Deaths have been caused by distracted photo-takers falling off cliffs, crashing cars, being hit by trains and shooting themselves while posing with guns.

Apparently, guns don’t kill people — selfies do.

Things have gotten so bad that Mumbai has outlawed selfies after 19 deaths in India. Pamplona officials have banned them during the annual Running of the Bulls.

And New York just became the first state to ix-nay “tiger selfies,” for obvious reasons.

Selfies are killing us: How they become a worldwide danger

Selfies have become a matter of life and death — and no, that’s not just an exaggerated pronouncement from your Instagram-obsessed teen.

In recent weeks alone, selfies have been credited with saving at least one Michigander, and blamed for killing a 32-year-old woman who fell to her death while visiting Pictured Rocks in the Upper Peninsula as she took photos near a 200-foot cliff.

New research identified 259 other deaths worldwide in the past six years related to selfies, of which more than a million are taken a day.
