Hillary Clinton: Government Has ‘A Right’ To Regulate 2nd Amendment

by AWR Hawkins Government has a right to regulate the Second Amendment, Hillary Clinton said in an interview on the June 5 airing of This Week With George Stephanopoulos, Clinton contended that Americans have historically recognized the government’s “right” to regulate the bearing of arms, suggesting that it was not until District of Columbia v Heller (2008) that anyone thought otherwise. Stephanopoulos asked, “Do you believe an individual’s right to bear arms is a constitutional right? That it’s not linked to the service in the militia?” Clinton responded: I think that for most of our history there was a...

Donald Trump: ‘Third Rate Reporter’ Katie Couric ‘Should be Ashamed of Herself’ for ‘Fraudulent Editing’

by Alex Swoyer Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump weighed in on the controversy surrounding talk show host Katie Couric’s edited documentary on guns. “Katie Couric, the third rate reporter, who has been largely forgotten, should be ashamed of herself for the fraudulent editing of her doc,” Trump posted on Twitter on Tuesday. Trump’s tweet comes after Couric has been under scrutiny for a misleading edit on a documentary, “Under the Gun,” which showed a more than eight second pause by gun activists after Couric posed a question to them asking how to prevent terrorists from obtaining guns without requiring background checks…. NRA’s Louisville Convention Garnered ‘$53 Million Economic Impact’

by AWR Hawkins The NRA’s Annual Meetings and Exhibits, held in Louisville, Kentucky, May 20-22, produced a “$53 million economic impact.” According to The Courier-Journal, this made the convention “one of the most lucrative local meetings ever.” Think about it: three days equaled $53 million. The exhibit hall was open Friday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Breitbart News previously reported that more than 80,000 people attended. This year’s attendance marked a 10,000-person increase over the large number in attendance at the 2015 event in Nashville. A Moms Demand Action rally timed to counter the NRA’s Louisville convention drew “around 40” people, according to...

Over 90% Of Mass Shootings Since 2009 Happened In Gun Free Zones

by AWR Hawkins On October 9, the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) released a revised report showing that 92% of mass public shootings between January 2009 and July 2014 took place in gun-free zones. The CPRC report was released in response to an Everytown for Gun Safety study claiming only 14% of mass public shootings took place in gun-free zones. Everytown actually claimed 86% of such incidents occurred in places where guns were allowed. CPRC showed that the 86% claim rests on Everytown’s “inclusion of attacks in private homes” and “numerous errors in identifying whether citizens can defend themselves.” For example,… View Article

Sheriff David Clarke to Hillary: Bad Guys are the Only Safe People in Gun-Free Zones

by Tom Tillison Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke appeared Sunday on “Fox and Friends Weekend” and said likely Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton wants to live by different rules than the public. The sheriff criticized Clinton for her anti-gun stance in attacking rival Donald Trump over Friday’s National Rifle Association endorsement. “I wonder if she feels that way as she’s surrounded by all of those armed secret service agents,” he said, adding that while she is entitled to that security blanket, “so are we as everyday Americans.” Clarke called the NRA “one of the largest civil rights organizations in America” and...

80,000-Plus Attend NRA Convention, While Moms Demand Rally Draws ‘Around 40’

by AWR Hawkins More than 80,000 people attended the NRA’s Annual Meetings and Exhibits in Louisville, Kentucky, over the weekend, while “around 40” marched in a Moms Demand Action rally timed to coincide with the NRA event. A similar scenario occurred in April 2015 as Moms Demand held a rally to counter the NRA Annual Meetings, that one held in Nashville, Tennessee. Breitbart News attended the Moms Demand Rally in Nashville and took photographs to show the group was only able to garner about 150 attendees to counter the approximately 70,000 who attended the NRA meetings. In 2016, the disparity in size between the...

Missouri May Become 12th State that Won’t Require Permit for Concealed Handguns

John S. Roberts One state is in the right frame of mind, now if only the other 49 would board the train we’d be more safe. Missouri lawmakers passed a bill making The Show-Me State the latest to join the “constitutional carry” club, expanding the state’s doctrine. Former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Everytown for Gun Safety were against the measure… From Federalist Papers via Breitbart: According to Fox 2 St. Louis, the Everytown ad claims the legislation “make it easier for violent criminals to carry guns.” And the ad is full of hyperbolic language which tends to frighten citizens...

California Democrats To Launch ‘Gunpocalpyse’ May 16

by AWR Hawkins Democrat lawmakers in California are preparing to launch “Gunpocalypse” on Monday, May 16. The Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) warns that anti-gun lawmakers will be relentless in their legislative assault, as they want to secure success for their favorite gun control proposals before Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom (D) has a chance to step in and upstage them via his ballot initiative in November on background checks for ammunition. FPC legislative advocate Craig DeLuz warns: Democrats have given up on any illusion of respect for the process or the voice of the people. The saddest part is that they...

Vermont: Universal Background Checks Defeated for 4th Consecutive Year

by AWR Hawkins On May 12, Vermont lawmakers rejected initiatives designed to put universal background checks in place for law-abiding citizens in the state. This was the fourth consecutive year that universal background checks have been rejected in Vermont. VermontWatchdog.org quoted Gun Owners of Vermont’s Bob DePino, who explained that universal checks were pushed but defeated in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. After the gun control was defeated again this year, DePino said, “They keep coming. They tried and they tried it again.” One of the bills introduced this year — S31 — “would have made criminal background checks required for… View Article
