Facebook Quietly Expands Ban on Private Firearms Ads to Include Licensed Gun Dealers

by AWR Hawkins In January 2016, Facebook instituted a ban on private individuals advertising gun sales and, in July, expanded the ban to include licensed gun dealers, as well. The expanded ban lumps Federal Firearms License holders (FFLs) who operate out of their homes with private sellers, although FFLs must do a background check for every gun sold, whether working out of their homes or not. According to Forbes, the expanded ban was discovered when Christopher Dover formed a group in which FFLs could advertise guns on Facebook. His group was meticulous. It “required each post to be approved...

Chicago: ‘Deadliest July in 10 Years’ for Gun Control Haven

by AWR Hawkins July 2016 was the “deadliest July in 10 years” for heavily gun-controlled Chicago: Sixty-five individuals were shot and killed. Moreover, according to the Chicago Tribune, such death figures do not set a new record — they simply tie a record set in 2006, when 65 individuals were killed in the month of July. This brings Chicago’s homicide total to “nearly 400” for the first seven months of 2016 alone. The number of homicides for the whole year of 2015 was 490. Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson tried to abate the feeding frenzy on the July death numbers by pointing out that… View Article

Hillary Clinton: I Don’t Want To Repeal Second Amendment, I Want To Regulate It

by AWR Hawkins Hillary Clinton tells Fox News Sunday she is “not looking to repeal the Second Amendment,” but she does intend to regulate it. Host Chris Wallace asked Clinton about the existence of an individual right to bear arms, as relates to the Supreme Court’s seminal decision in District of Columbia v. Heller (2008). Although Clinton dodged a similar question twice when asked by ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on June 5, she answered this time by saying “an individual right is in line with constitutional thinking.” However, she hedged in her answer by stressing that no right is free from government oversight and regulation. She… View Article

Women Are ‘Fastest-Growing Group of Gun Owners’

by AWR Hawkins Gun sales are on a record-setting pace since President Obama took office, and a driving force behind those sales are the women who have emerged as the “fastest-growing group of gun owners” in America. The emergence of women as a gun-owning demographic to be reckoned with became evident in 2011 and 2012. The NRA reports a Gallup Poll showing a 23 percent jump in female firearms ownership between 2005 and 2011, and this poll is complimented by National Shooting Sports Foundation research showing that among those female gun owners, the largest percentage own more than one gun. Gun Controllers In Oregon, Washington Push West Coast ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban

by AWR Hawkins Gun control groups in Oregon and Washington state are pushing for gun laws similar to those in California, which would ban “assault weapons” from the West Coast. The gun control proponents are operating under the banner of Washington Ceasefire and Oregon Ceasefire, but are actually “a coalition of groups and lawmakers.” According to KUOW, Washington Ceasefire’s Ralph Fascitelli cited illegal uses of “assault weapons” in Orlando, San Bernardino, Dallas, and Roseburg, Ore., as justification for pursing the ban. He said, “We’re just seeing one shooting after another and the carnage higher. You know, enough is enough. What… View Article

Twice as Many Women Getting Concealed Permits During Obama’s Second Term

by AWR Hawkins The latest study from the Crime Prevention Research Center’s (CPRC) John Lott Jr. shows that women got concealed carry permits at twice the pace of men during Barack Obama’s second term. According to CPRC, “The number of women with permits has increased twice as quickly as the number of men with permits.” The study also shows that there is evidence which “suggests that permit-holding is increasing about 75 percent more quickly among minorities than among whites.” This information poses a direct challenge to the left’s relentless claims that the customers driving gun sales to record levels are the… View Article
