Montana AG: Missoula’s Bloomberg-Supported Universal Background Checks Unlawful

by AWR Hawkins Montana Attorney General Tim Fox issued an opinion halting the City of Missoula’s expanded background check ordinance on the grounds that they violate state law and “cannot be enforced.” The ordinance was enacted by the Missoula City Council on September 26, 2016. It abolishes “almost all” private sales by requiring law-abiding citizens to undergo a background check when selling or transferring a gun between one another. Congress Acting to Block Obama’s Social Security Gun Ban

by AWR Hawkins Congress plans to take up legislation next week that is designed to block Barack Obama’s gun ban for Social Security recipients who require help with their finances. On July 18, 2015, Breitbart News reported the Obama administration was fashioning what was then a secretive gun ban for Social Security recipients who needed help with their finances. The Los Angeles Times reported that the ban would be sweeping. Obama Official Issues Ammunition Ban for Federal Lands on Last Day in Office

BY: Stephen Gutowski U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Dan Ashe, an Obama appointee, ordered a new ammunition ban for certain federal lands on Thursday–his last full day in office. The ban, which took effect immediately, eliminates the use of lead-based ammunition on federal lands like national parks and wildlife refuges, as well as any other land administered by the Fish and Wildlife Service. Pew Survey: Police Support Gun Rights over Gun Control by 3 to 1 Margin

by AWR Hawkins A Pew Research Center survey released January 11 shows that police officers support protecting citizens’ gun rights over passing more gun control by a margin of 3 to 1. The survey also shows that two out of three officers oppose an “assault weapons” ban. Chicago Police Board Chair: Windy City Needs Federal Help to Turn Tide on Crime
