NDP dismisses party takeover attempt

James Wood, Calgary Herald More from James Wood, Calgary Herald The Alberta NDP says there have been “a few hundred” applications for party memberships from activists opposed to the Notley government, dismissing the prospect of a party takeover. George Clark, organizer of the anti-NDP Albertans First petition campaign, called on opponents of the government to buy NDP memberships in a bid to force changes in party policy. The movement has been mocked on social media as the “kudatah,” based on the misspelling of coup d’etat online by an opponent of the NDP. NDP provincial secretary Chris O’Halloran said Thursday that...

The BDS Movement: Israeli Apartheid and Canada’s Duplicity

If Canada were to support real, productive change, it would support rather than condemn peaceful citizen initiatives such as the Boycott Divest Sanctions (BDS) campaign. Instead, Canada continues to support international lawlessness abroad, and an on-going domestic policy of police state repression, welded to a nexus of complicit agencies — most notably mainstream media — to stifle our freedom of dissent. International law presents a powerful case against apartheid Israel. In an earlier article, for example, this author noted that, “The International Criminal Court (ICJ) ruled in 2004 that the West Bank wall was ‘illegal in its entirety,’ and that compensation...

Obama makes case for gov access to all digital devices to prevent terrorism and tax cheats

Without mentioning the government’s case against Apple directly, President Barack Obama told a Texas audience that mobile devices should be built such a way that the government can access them in order to prevent a terrorist attack or enforce tax laws. “The question we now have to ask is: If technologically it is possible to make an impenetrable device or system where the encryption is so strong that there is no key, there’s no door at all, then how do we apprehend the child pornographer, how do we solve or disrupt a terrorist plot?” Obama said during a question...

Renowned Scholar Warns Common Core Education Dumbing Down Kids

Alex Pietrowski, Staff Waking Times Educators and parents in the United States are becoming increasingly frustrated by the Common Core States Initiative program, which was deployed in June 2010 as part of President Obama’s Race-To-The-Top (RTTT) program. During the following four years, public schools throughout the states were enticed to integrate the Common Core program as the Federal Government dangled $4.3 billion in funds to reward schools for satisfying certain federally determined performance on standardized tests, with the funds only going to schools which implemented Common Core. The US federal Government has stated that their goal with Common Core...

100 REASONS FOR EU BREXIT

Why escaping the EU disaster is not an option, it’s obligatory Whether your main interest is equality, liberty, democracy, economic survival, sovereignty, debt reduction, increased export potential, encouraging entrepreneurs, fiscal independence, social fairness, overpopulation, community mutualism or calling leaders to account, it has become abundantly clear since 2008 that you will have to forfeit every one of these aspirations if your preference is to stay within the European Union. The EU is run by an unelected élite which largely ignores the individual, ignores election results, ignores State sovereignty, ignores debt mountains, ignores currency realities, ignores poverty, ignores its responsibilities...

Here’s 44 talking about voter suppression… From FreeBeacon via WZ: President Obama scolded the audience at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, for taking amusement in his pronouncement that the U.S. makes it too difficult for citizens to vote. “We’re the only advanced democracy in the world that makes it harder for people to vote,” Obama said.
