Arpaio takes Obama’s executive order to court

Arpaio takes Obama’s executive order to court ‘This unconstitutional act … will have a serious detrimental impact’ Less than two hours after Barack Obama announced a solo move to protect millions of illegal aliens from deportation, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio took him to court to have the Constitution upheld. A lawsuit filed by attorney Larry Klayman of Freedom Watch named Obama and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, Immigration Services chief Leon Rodriquez and Attorney General Eric Holder as defendants in an action that seeks to avoid “irreversible harm” from Obama’s actions because they will “encourage[e] more illegal aliens to… View Article

No Mention of ‘Constitution’ in Obama’s Amnesty Speech

No Mention of ‘Constitution’ in Obama’s Amnesty Speech In declaring his executive amnesty on Thursday evening, President Barack Obama did not use the word “Constitution” once. He cited the supposed precedent of previous executive orders by earlier presidents, and he spoke about law enforcement, but he never once showed how the actions he proposed to take are constitutional. Instead, he reiterated his insistence that Congress had failed to act–and invited it to pass a bill he would sign. Update: While ignoring the Constitution, Obama referred to himself some 31 times. President Obama Has Dissolved the Government

President Obama Has Dissolved the Government Besides this over-turning from without, governments are dissolved from within… First, When the legislative is altered….That when such a single person, or prince, sets up his own arbitrary will in place of the laws, which are the will of the society, declared by the legislative, then the legislative is changed: for that being in effect the legislative, whose rules and laws are put in execution, and required to be obeyed; when other laws are set up, and other rules pretended, and inforced, than what the legislative, constituted by the society, have enacted, it is… View Article

Passport fees a cash cow for government

Passport fees a cash cow for government A hike in passport fees has become a cash cow for the federal government. Recently released figures show the government took in $200 million more than it cost them to produce passports last year. The cost for a five-year passport increased to $120 from $87 last year, while a new 10-year passport was introduced at a cost of $160. The government said without the increases, Passport Canada wouldn’t have been able to maintain operations or offer security-enhanced documents. A spokesperson for the agency says the surplus doesn’t mean fees will go down. The… View Article

Town Ends Bid To Ban Tobacco After Outcry

Town Ends Bid To Ban Tobacco After Outcry Town attempted to enforce tyranny A proposal that would have made the town the first in the nation to ban all tobacco sales has gone up in smoke. Westminster’s board of health voted 2-1 to drop the proposal at its regular meeting on Wednesday, a week after rowdy opposition led board members to end a public hearing early. Board members Ed Simoncini and Peter Munro moved and voted to kill the proposal. Board chairwoman Andrea Crete voted to keep it under consideration. Getting Liberal Voters to Love ‘American Sniper’

Clint Eastwood’s Oscars Challenge: Getting Liberal Voters to Love ‘American Sniper’ Deep into 2004, as the Oscar race was coalescing around just a few pictures, Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator looked like the film to beat. It was classy, it was a period piece, it had a roster of top-notch performances, it was directed by America’s most acclaimed filmmaker and its subject matter was near and dear to Hollywood’s heart: Howard Hughes. Sure, Alexander Payne’s Sideways and the biopic Ray looked like they might give it a run for its money. But both were small in scale, unlikely to appeal… View Article
