Interview With Swedish Author Johan Norberg On The Destructive Nature Of Socialism

By Frank Camp @FrankDCamp Several weeks ago, as I fell down the YouTube rabbit hole, I came across an interview with Swedish author, Johan Norberg. I was struck by the way in which he described social and political themes, so I asked him if he’d do an interview. Although Norberg is affiliated with the CATO Institute, his primary work is as an author. He’s written multiple books over the last two decades, including “In Defense of Global Capitalism,” “Financial Fiasco,” and his most recent, “Progress: Ten Reasons to Look Forward to the Future.” In the following interview, Norberg discusses...

Seeing a Threat to National Security, Trump Blocks Broadcom from Acquiring Qualcomm

by John Carney President Donald Trump Monday ordered Broadcom to cease its attempt to purchase Qualcomm, saying the deal was a threat to national to national security. “The proposed takeover of Qualcomm is prohibited, and any substantially equivalent merger, acquisition, or takeover, whether effected directly or indirectly, is also prohibited,” the president said in an order issued Monday. The order is the latest signal that the president is willing to take dramatic actions to put his agenda of economic nationalism into effect. Last week the president made official plans to put tariffs on imported steel and aluminum, saying foreign dumping...

Wyoming Lawmakers Pass Stand Your Ground, Send to Governor’s Desk

by AWR Hawkins The Wyoming legislature passed stand your ground legislation and sent it to Gov. Matt Mead’s (R) desk for a signature. The legislation, HB 168, protects law-abiding citizens who have to use deadly force in defense of their lives. The NRA-ILA reports that “Wyoming currently has no statutory provision excluding a mandatory duty to retreat for those who are assaulted, without fault, in a place other than the home.” Wyoming’s castle doctrine removed the mandate to retreat inside the home, and HB 168 would remove any requirement to do so outside one’s residence. The Associated Press reports...

President Trump: Schools Should Be Safe as Our Airports, Stadiums, Government Buildings

by AWR Hawkins The White House put out a release reflecting President Trump’s desire that our schools should be as safe as our airports, stadiums, and government buildings. On February 21 Breitbart News reported Trump’s pushed to arm “20 percent” of teachers for school safety. He made clear that he was not talking about forcing teachers to be armed. Rather, he wanted the opportunity for armed teachers to exist so those who volunteer to be armed could undergo proper training and protect their students. He used his February 23 CPAC speech to express his belief that an appeal to...

Bob Goodlatte and Trey Gowdy Call for Second Special Counsel to Investigate DOJ, FBI

by Kristina Wong House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) are calling for a second special counsel to investigate potential bias, conflicts of interest, and decisions made by the Justice Department and FBI in 2016 and 2017. Police Warn Reporters Not to Report News Until Cops Give Them Permission—Or Face Consequences

By Rachel Blevins Pikeville, Kentucky – Local media outlets are speaking out after they received emails from a state police spokesperson demanding that they wait for a press release from the police department before publishing stories about ongoing investigations, which implies that the outlets are prohibited from using a narrative that is different from the one chosen by police. The Mountain Advocate newspaper and a Bell County radio station received an email from Kentucky State Police spokesman Shane Jacobs, in which he started out by writing that he personally has “a great working relationship with the media,” but that...

Hillary Says Racist Poor People Voted For Trump, ‘Optimistic, Diverse, Dynamic’ People Voted For Her

By Ben Shapiro @benshapiro  On Monday, a woman who was never elected to the presidency, Hillary Clinton, spoke to a crowd in India. There, she laid out the reason she lost: those stupid, stupid poor people. Yes, Hillary was a blue collar candidate, all right. Here’s what she said: There’s all that red in the middle, where Trump won. Now, I win the coasts, I win Illinois, Minnesota, places like that. But what the map doesn’t show you is that I won the places that represent two-thirds of America’s gross domestic product. So I won the places that are...

Women Launch Motherhood Movement, Push Back on Feminist Propaganda

by Penny Starr A gathering of women in the nation’s capital last week was not coincidentally held on International Women’s Day. Organizers said the press conference held at the Phyllis Schlafly Center was to announce to the nation and the world that mothers want to take back America from the grip of feminism and liberalism and return it to a country focused on family, freedom and the principles embraced by its founding fathers. Those gathered at a center named for a woman who spent her life championing the same values celebrated March 8 as International Mothers Influence Day—a day...
