Obama Advocates for UN Gun Treaty Ratification

by Fred Lucas / @FredLucasWH The Obama administration upped its commitment to get the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty ratified, a tall order since a bipartisan coalition of 50 senators have already said they oppose the gun treaty Secretary of State John Kerry signed three years ago. Second Amendment advocates are concerned the treaty could provide an international law rationalization for a national gun registry in the United States, and is overly vague. “The language is so vague is could almost mean anything. A lot could be done to rationalize gun control. The treaty has no prohibitions, no thou-shalt-nots,”...

Hillary at Commander-in-Chief Forum: Gun Control Part of Fight Against Terrorism

by AWR Hawkins During MSNBC’s September 7 Commander-in-Chief Forum, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton suggested more gun control is part of the fight against terror attacks in the United States. She did this after forum host Matt Lauer brought up “terror attacks on our soil.” Lauer asked, “Would your message as the next President of the United States — or potential next president — be … that we are simply living in the reality that those attacks will happen? And can you guarantee people that, after four years of a Clinton presidency, they’ll be safer on the streets of...

Sales of AR-15s with ‘Bullet Buttons’ Surge Ahead of New Gun Controls

by AWR Hawkins Sales of AR-15 rifles equipped with “bullet buttons” are flying off gun store shelves as Californians try to buy the guns before newly-signed gun controls take effect in California. “Bullet buttons” are devices that allow gun owners to remove empty magazines from their AR-15 rifles so a fully loaded magazine can be put in their place. AR-15s are typically made with a magazine release that makes switching out magazines a breeze, but Democrat lawmakers in California passed legislation barring such releases. That prohibition, in turn, gave rise to the invention of the “bullet button” as a way to… View Article

Gun Rights More Important Than Gun Control

by AWR Hawkins A Pew Research Center survey released August 26 shows majority support for protecting the right to gun ownership versus passing more laws to control who can own a gun. According to Pew, 52% of the public want to “protect the right of Americans to own guns” while 46% support passing more laws “to control gun ownership.” The gap between the two positions was even larger when the question was posed to Donald Trump supporters, who chose gun ownership instead of controlling gun ownership roughly  “nine-to-one.” On the other hand, when Clinton supporters were asked the question they responded in favor of more gun… View Article
