Florida’s Sheriffs Backs State’s Stand Your Ground Law

Earlier this week, Florida’s Sheriffs Association voted to support the state’s Stand Your Ground law in the aftermath of the George Zimmerman Trial. The association’s new president, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, announced it agreed to support the law without opposition as written. Tuesday’s voice vote came with 57 Sheriffs in attendance. This is the first public stance the association has taken on the law since it was first passed in 2005. Sheriff Judd said in a prepared statement, “Our current judicial system is comprised of multiple checks and balances to ensure fair and equitable application of all laws, including… View Article

Minimum Wage – Mugged Man buys Gun Defends Himself

Minimum Wage – Mugged Man buys Gun Defends Himself Raising minimum wage is not intended to help anyone but the very rich and their political lackeys. But President Obama, who proposed last week to bring the federal minimum wage up to $9 an hour from $7.25, doesn’t seem to realize this. Not only will an increase in the minimum wage destroy the ability of millions to get a job, and it will help perpetuate a system of American Serfdom and Economic Slavery. One of the problems with a technologically advanced society is that the ruling elite have a much harder… View Article

Gun Violence Going Down is Not the Issue

McAuliffe: Gun Violence Going Down is Not the Issue Virgnia Democratic gubernatorial nominee Terry McCauliffe did not want to tell reporters if he supports the passage of an “assault weapons” ban (AWB) in the commonwealth of Virginia. When asked by Breitbart News, he replied, “What I said in Virginia, what we ought to do–and I’m a strong supporter of the second amendment–I’m a gun owner. I take two of my sons hunting and skeet shooting. I think there are reasonable things we can do.” When asked what those things would be, McCauliffe only mentioned background checks. “I think that anyone… View Article

Virginia: Gun Sales Rise, Crime Falls

In a real life demonstration of scholar John Lott’s maxim “more guns, less crime,” violent crime has dropped in Virginia as gun ownership has increased.                       According to a Fox News report, firearms sales in Virginia were 16 percent higher in 2012 over 2011 and violent crime went down by 5 percent. Perhaps the significance of this is best seen in the raw numbers: In 2012 licensed gun dealers sold 490,119 guns in their state, while the number of violent crimes for the same time period was 4,378. Virginia Commonwealth… View Article

Concealed-carry permits see dramatic increase in 2013

More people in Colorado than ever before are attempting to legally carry a concealed gun, and by no small margin. It’s 87 percent more. And while 2012 saw a sizable increase from 2011 of permit seekers, that figure pales in comparison to this year. From January to June, 31,518 background checks were processed for concealed-carry permits by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, according to bureau data. For the same period last year, there were only 16,886 processed. In addition, more background checks have been processed in the first… View Article

Colorado Police Gun Buyback Program Canceled

Colorado Police Gun Buyback Program Canceled over State’s Strict Gun Laws All across the country police departments have sponsored gun buyback programs for the purpose of “getting guns off the streets.” But one buyback event in Boulder, CO had to be canceled because the state’s new gun laws are so strict that the police can’t even navigate the law to sponsor the program. The event was canceled by Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle, who sadly had to inform the community that Colorado’s new gun laws made it “nearly impossible” to follow the law. One of the strict new laws that… View Article

Big Mac Attack hits Vietnam – Bounty On Drones

McDonald’s said Tuesday it will open its first burger restaurant in Vietnam after awarding the franchise to the son-in-law of the Communist-ruled nation’s prime minister. The fast-food chain is a relative latecomer to Vietnam where other Western consumer brands such as Starbucks, Subway and Pizza Hut have already opened stores. Despite a slowdown in growth from torrid levels, Vietnam’s youthful population is a strong lure for foreign companies. It also represents the latest chapter in the march of McDonald’s across the world, including countries with which the United States shares a bloody history. The company said it will open its… View Article

Holder, DOJ Won’t Return Zimmerman’s Gun

Holder, DOJ Won’t Return Zimmerman’s Gun Although George Zimmerman was found “not guilty” by a jury of his peers in the self-defense shooting of Trayvon Martin, Attorney General Eric Holder refuses to give Zimmerman’s gun back. The Sanford police department confirmed that the DOJ has placed a “hold” on evidence relating to the Zimmerman trial. Officers have been instructed not to return “any pieces of evidence to their owners,” including Zimmerman’s gun. The Daily Mail suggests this is one more sign that “the criminal section of the Justice Department’s… View Article

Gun Bans Ahead of New Concealed Carry Law

Chicago Pols Strengthen Gun Bans Ahead of New Concealed Carry Law In the wake of the new concealed carry law passed in Illinois, Chicago’s city fathers are adding more guns to the ban list and setting strict new rules for who can have a gun and what sort of guns they can have. Specifically, the city is renewing a ban on “assault weapons” and “large capacity magazines” within city limits. Illinois was the last state in the union to allow citizens to apply for concealed carry permits, but state legislators also gave local governments, municipalities and counties a ten day… View Article
